About Monica

I am an editor, graphic designer, website designer, knitter, sewer, avid reader, and a proud Vancouverite. I am a talented and motivated individual developing my career in the publishing industry.

I began my post-secondary education at the Publishing Program at Langara College. Graduating in August 2007, I was the Managing Editor of Pacific Rim Magazine 2007, which is written, designed, and produced by the students of the Publishing Program. In September 2008, I returned to school taking courses at SFU's Writing & Publishing Program. I graduated with a certificate in Editing in July 2010.

I have been designing websites since 2000 on a personal and freelance basis. Through Langara's Publishing Program, I completed a course on Dreamweaver and received a cumulative GPA of 4.18.

COMPUTER PROGRAMS

BLOGGING & SOCIAL MEDIA

I have extensive hands-on experience coding, creating, and maintaining blogs and online brands. I have built websites from scratch and used social media to place and promote our brand. I have been utilizing email newsletters since 2008 and have attended several talks based on optimizing eblasts.

WRITING & EDITING

I have both web and print experience with writing and editing. I have been blogging (personally) since 2001 and professionally since 2008. I completed a certificate in Editing from SFU's Writing & Publishing Program, during which I took several courses on writing and editing for print, web, fiction, and non-fiction.

Professional Development

I have attended a number of conferences and seminars to further my knowledge and connections within the publishing industry.
